These programs include Freshmen Choir, Concert Choir, Orchestra, Honor Choir, Liturgical Music and Sunshine Singers. This webpage includes information about Xavier's music programs and any upcoming performances or events regarding music at Xavier. Honor Choir

Honor Choir is a Xavier class that meets from 7:00am to 7:50am Monday through Thursday. When one of these regular rehearsals is cancelled, the class meets on Friday. This choir is open to sophomores, juniors and seniors upon request and is focused on preparing students for Regional Choir Auditions through extensive study of music theory and sight reading. Concert dress for Honor Choir is a sapphire concert dress, pearl necklace, pearl earrings, and black dress shoes. Honor performs with the Xavier Concert and Freshmen choirs as well as at several off-campus events. Honor choir also practices and performs pieces with the Brophy choir. The music selections that Honor Choir is currently working on are: Agnus Dei, Rise Up in Festive Song, Away from the Roll of the Sea, How Can I Stop Singing My Song, The Star Spangled Banner, and Sunshine Again. Concert Choir

Concert Choir is a class offered by Xavier that is open to Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors upon audition. This class meets during the first semester of a year during a regular class period. The 1999 Concert Choir is split into two class periods, 1st hour and 2nd hour. Concert Choir dress is an ankle legnth black skirt, white tuxedo shirt, plaid cumberbund and bow tie. At the Xavier Christmas Concer, Concert Choir successfully performed the following songs: Carol of the Bells, Winter Wonderland, Silent Night, Jesus Light of the World, and Riu, Riu, Chiu. Congratulations to Xavier's 1999 Concert Choir!

Freshmen Choir

The Xavier Freshmen Choir is a class open to second semester Freshmen upon audition. This class introduces baby Gators to music theory, interpretation, technique, and performance. This class is a highly recommeded prerequisite for Xavier's Concert and Honor Choirs. Freshmen Choir meets second semester during a regular class period. This year's Freshmen Choir has three separate class periods that will combine to become one choir for the Xavier Spring Concert. Concert dress is the same as for Concert Choir. The pieces currently in study include Castle on a Cloud.

Orchestra

The Xavier-Brophy Orchestra is a combined group of music students who study and perform orchestra pieces. The group meets Tuesdays during seventh hour in the music room at Xavier (Room 224). This group performs with the Xavier Honor, Concert and Freshmen choirs at the regular concerts.

Liturgical Choir

The Xavier Liturgical Choir is made up of any Xavier student who wishes to audition. This choir leads the music in any mass that Xavier holds during the school year. They also sing at other liturgical functions upon request. This Choir is directed my Mrs. Ertl and meets Tuesdays from 2:30 - 3:15 in room 101. Upcoming masses for the Xavier Liturgical Choir include the March 8th Ash Wednesday Celebration. The choir is currently studying music such as Adoramus Te Qui Passus Es and The Gift of Life for an upcoming reconciliation service.
